Karate Colour
Sports Colours – For many years, certain types of sport, athletics and physical activity generally, had been included in badge awards: others, such as football, had been omitted. With the badge reforms of the late 1960’s, Sports colours were included in the BB awards scheme for the first time. These were awarded to Boys who had represented either the Company, Battalion or District in any of the following sports: Archery, Badminton, Cricket, Cross Country, Cycling, Fencing, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Judo, Orienteering, Rugby, Skiing, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis. Swimming was added in 1970, and by the mid 1980’s with the additions of Fishing, Roller skating, Volleyball, and Karate, as well as a silver and gold ‘stage’ flashes this brought the total to 22. Demand started to drop after the introduction of the new badge scheme which included the foil sports credits in the 1982-83 session, and the colours were dropped from the Awards program in 1994.
The image shown is representative, and the best badge in stock will be supplied. All the colours are ‘new old stock’ however, they may show some signs of discolouration.
