Kernan P – 1927

BB Gazette Vol.36 No.1 – The Boys’ Brigade Cross for Heroism has been awarded to Private Patrick Kernan, aged 16 years, 8th Dublin Company, for conspicuous bravery in saving his employer’s life. Kernan was accompanying’ his employer, who had a large sum of wages in a bag, when the latter was attacked by an armed robber and a confederate. Although Kernan was unarmed, he attacked the man in time to deflect the revolver bullet, which only grazed his employer’s ankle.
