Malory A 1927

BB Gazette Vol.36 No.3 The Cross for Heroism has also been awarded to Private Arthur Mallory, aged 14, 14th Leeds Company, for rescuing another Boy from drowning at Bridlington on the evening of the 3rd August, 1927.

The two Boys were fishing from the Quay when the younger Boy fell into deep water. A strong tide was ebbing at the time, and the drowning Boy was carried 25 yards out before Mallory managed to seize him, and after a difficult struggle, unassisted, reached the Quay where both Boys were taken from the water in an exhausted condition.
