Research/Visit

The Boys’ Brigade Archive Trust manages the archive collection of The Boys’ Brigade which includes a large collection of documents, photographs, books, uniform, badges, artifacts and objects. These are currently in storage and there is an ongoing programme to digitise and photograph these objects and make them available on this virtual museum. This provides a way for them to be viewed and enjoyed by a wide audience around the World.

Anyone wishing to visit the collection for research or to view specific items can contact The Brigade Archivist for further information, and to request that the items are available for the visit.  Access to material is solely at the discretion of The Brigade Archivist.

The collection has recently been moved and the catalogue is being updated. Once the catalogue is updated, this will be made available on this virtual museum. As a result of this, our volunteers are busy with this important task and cannot undertake research for projects outside of the existing planned research.

There are no items on permanent display and therefore general visits are not permitted. Any groups who would like a BB Heritage experience are encourage to contact us, as we may be able to put out a small collection of objects and provide a guided history of The Boys’ Brigade through the objects. As our volunteers are very busy, this request must be placed well in advance, and will be dependant on the availability of the volunteers, and at the discretion of the Brigade Archivist.

For those wishing to have a more traditional museum experience, there are a number of BB Museums worldwide, owned by Battalions or individual Companies. Information for these – including the address and opening hours –  are provided elsewhere on this page.
